I implemented to 2 years ago the Unigraphics NX software version 7.5 in the company (Golden Lamps), for the development of packaging. I have used this software for product design and parts for appliances and automotive and auto parts. In the first study using this software, it has paid off. The development of a blister made externally, for example, took weeks at a cost of 1/5 the cost of the software per blister.
With the implementation of UG, the company saved a lot of money - leaving to outsource these services - gained time (and thus more money), and the software is now used far beyond the packaging. I use it to draw the product, technical drawings generate, develop the blister, realize the necessary checks extraction of the mold angle, strength of materials, among others, as required.
I can still quickly calculate the size of transport packaging, palletizing the best, and even the best way to accommodate the boxes in the container, predicting how many boxes will fit and what will be the idle space.
Today we can no longer think of the development of packaging without the use of this software. I urge all professionals giving some research about it.
Still remember that there are similar software, and Catia the only one who can really tackle the UG.
